Mad Hatter’s Tea Party Divas and Dahlias Salutes Spring in Style!

Benefiting the Women’s Council of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden’s “A Woman’s Garden” D’Andra Simmons, Honorary Chair | Sharon Ballew, Event Chair

(May 17, 2010) The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden was in full bloom on April 22nd for the 22ND Annual Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, this year themed Divas and Dahlias, benefiting the Women’s Council of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden’s “A Woman’s Garden.”

This fabulous and fun party is attended by over 500 women, some from as far away as California, who plan their trips to Dallas not only to take part in the Mad Hatter’s Tea – many in wild and wonderful over-the-top hats relating to the event’s theme - but to view the glorious springtime azalea displays and flowers that grace the arboretum and visit friends.

Here are some photos from the May 27, 2010 Park Cities News. Click on them to go to the Mad Hatter's Tea page on SocialWhirl.com and more information and Party Pics.

Georgia Fisher, Society Editor, People Newspapers, writes about the KidneyTexas luncheon and fashion show in her blog here.  Photos from the event are here.

We'll have photos from the luncheon linked from this blog soon and more in the press release.

The luncheon was a tremendous success. Co-Chairs Teffy Jacobs and Molly Nolan, along with Jan Strimple producing the fashion show sponsored by Stanley Korshak wow'ed the audience.

Scoop: The fashion show runway was anchored by a "boxing ring" where at one point, male models in boxer shorts (only boxing shorts) from Royal Highnies were sparring, doing one arm push ups, jumping rope, etc., as they modeled. Everyone LOVED that part.

Yvonne Crum's granddaughter, Samantha, was one of the models and as she walked down the runway, saw Yvonne and Mayo and went right over to them, left the runway for granddad's arms.

David "Nino" Rodriguez was there - tall - 6' 5" or so and gorgeous - who was the "main attraction" in the live auction: Valued at $20,000: An Exclusive Evening with Undefeated Heavyweight David “Nino” Rodgriguez 31-0, 29 KO’s (25 in the First Round!) including a three-course wine paired dinner for 10 in the wine cellar at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek with one complimentary suite and breakfast for two, an exclusive “Louis XIII Moment” presented by Louis XIII Cognac with a special Reidel glass for each guest and two hours of event photography by Jeremy Brown.

Bidding was hot between husband and wife team of Helen K. and Robert G. McGraw and KidneyTexas Honorary Chairman, Nancy C. Rogers. In the first round, Helen K. and Robert G. McGraw won at $17,000. But WAIT! David "Nino" Rodriguez and Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek kicked in for a second package for an additional $17,000, which Nancy C. Rogers bought. So, here's how it came down: Both parties paid $17,000 each for a total contribution to KidneyTexas of $34,000! That is the hot scoop of the party.

Watch TV on Saturday, September 12. If David wins, he'll be ranked # 3 in the world. He is currently the NABA World Heavyweight Champion, WBC Fecor Champion, Texas, New Mexico and Mexico Heavyweight Champion and # 13 in the world by the WBA.

There were models who were kidney donors/recipients, who were applauded by all:

Hannah and Dennis Barnes (daughter is recipient; father is donor); Reginald Glen Bennett (donor); John and Chris Gilbreath (son is recipient; father is donor); Ryan Michael (recipient) and Ryan Nixon (donor); Brian and Antonio Morales (son, recipeint; father is donor) Aaron and Erleigh Wiley (husband is recipient; wife is donor.)

The Stanley Korshak American Express Outstanding Service Award KidneyTexas was presented by Crawford Brock, President and Owner of Stanley Korshak to Megan Meyercord, who has been a dedicated volunteer for years. It is with her expertise that the seating for the luncheon is always running smoothly.

It was a sold out event. Congratulations to all!

It has been almost a year now that M, Dining at the Music Hall has been serving their fabulous buffets. Each buffet menu is styled in synch with the show currently playing. With Culinaire at the helm and Executive Chef Eric Shelton and Manager Justin Reagan, everything has been re-done and running smoothly.

Check out Nancy Nichols' take on her recent experience here: http://sidedish.dmagazine.com/2009/07/31/restaurant-review-legally-blonde-in-dallas/

Carolina's Mexican Cuisine is open at Rosemeade and Midway, off of George W. Bush Parkway (exit at Rosemeade. Go left on Rosemeade, over the bridge and it's on the right). Fabulous patio! The high quality of the food is one of Dallas' best deals for the price. Two can share a Carolina's platter and a ceviche (fresh seafood with no tomato base. Just pure seafood, cilantro, lime - you choose how you want it made). The brisket tacos melt in your mouth. Everything we've had is absoCevichelutely delicious.

Pay a visit and let us know what you think.

Increase your exposure in the marketplace and improve your customer service vs. cutting back on both. While everyone is playing in the safe zone, explore cost-effective ways to play more aggressively."
