Georgia Fisher, Society Editor, People Newspapers, writes about the KidneyTexas luncheon and fashion show in her blog here.  Photos from the event are here.

We'll have photos from the luncheon linked from this blog soon and more in the press release.

The luncheon was a tremendous success. Co-Chairs Teffy Jacobs and Molly Nolan, along with Jan Strimple producing the fashion show sponsored by Stanley Korshak wow'ed the audience.

Scoop: The fashion show runway was anchored by a "boxing ring" where at one point, male models in boxer shorts (only boxing shorts) from Royal Highnies were sparring, doing one arm push ups, jumping rope, etc., as they modeled. Everyone LOVED that part.

Yvonne Crum's granddaughter, Samantha, was one of the models and as she walked down the runway, saw Yvonne and Mayo and went right over to them, left the runway for granddad's arms.

David "Nino" Rodriguez was there - tall - 6' 5" or so and gorgeous - who was the "main attraction" in the live auction: Valued at $20,000: An Exclusive Evening with Undefeated Heavyweight David “Nino” Rodgriguez 31-0, 29 KO’s (25 in the First Round!) including a three-course wine paired dinner for 10 in the wine cellar at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek with one complimentary suite and breakfast for two, an exclusive “Louis XIII Moment” presented by Louis XIII Cognac with a special Reidel glass for each guest and two hours of event photography by Jeremy Brown.

Bidding was hot between husband and wife team of Helen K. and Robert G. McGraw and KidneyTexas Honorary Chairman, Nancy C. Rogers. In the first round, Helen K. and Robert G. McGraw won at $17,000. But WAIT! David "Nino" Rodriguez and Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek kicked in for a second package for an additional $17,000, which Nancy C. Rogers bought. So, here's how it came down: Both parties paid $17,000 each for a total contribution to KidneyTexas of $34,000! That is the hot scoop of the party.

Watch TV on Saturday, September 12. If David wins, he'll be ranked # 3 in the world. He is currently the NABA World Heavyweight Champion, WBC Fecor Champion, Texas, New Mexico and Mexico Heavyweight Champion and # 13 in the world by the WBA.

There were models who were kidney donors/recipients, who were applauded by all:

Hannah and Dennis Barnes (daughter is recipient; father is donor); Reginald Glen Bennett (donor); John and Chris Gilbreath (son is recipient; father is donor); Ryan Michael (recipient) and Ryan Nixon (donor); Brian and Antonio Morales (son, recipeint; father is donor) Aaron and Erleigh Wiley (husband is recipient; wife is donor.)

The Stanley Korshak American Express Outstanding Service Award KidneyTexas was presented by Crawford Brock, President and Owner of Stanley Korshak to Megan Meyercord, who has been a dedicated volunteer for years. It is with her expertise that the seating for the luncheon is always running smoothly.

It was a sold out event. Congratulations to all!
